Want to learn how to ride a skateboard but don't know where to start? Girls skateboarding lessons at Riverslide Skate Park are a great way to learn to skate in a social and positive environment. You'll be able to have fun, try new things and make progress while improving your fitness, coordination and balance. You'll build your confidence and resilience too!
Lessons are run by experienced skateboard coaches who will help you learn skateboarding stances, styles and terms. Skateboarding is super fun and exciting, and you'll get to hang out with other girls and young women who love to skate.

Go GirlsGo Girls is a fun-focused, group skateboarding lesson for girls from five to 14 years of age. Suitable for beginners, Go Girls lessons will introduce you to using skate parks. The lessons are a great way to make new friends. Class schedule: Saturdays at 2:00pm |
Progression SessionProgression Session is a social and supportive skateboarding lesson for girls aged 14 and over, including young women aged 18 and over. Suitable for beginners, the lessons are an informal way to learn some skills and experience skating at a skate park with the instruction and guidance of experienced coaches. The session includes a one hour girls skateboarding lesson followed by two hours of skating for girls. The Y skateboard coaches supervise and manage the public skate park during the Progression Session so that all girls have the space and freedom to practice their skills. Equipment
Bring along your own skateboard and gear if you have it. If you don't have your own, we can provide both skateboards and safety equipment for you to use during the lesson. This includes knee pads, wrist pads, elbow pads and helmets.
Coaches
The friendly and professional Riverslide staff are experienced instructors with a wealth of knowledge and experience and can provide skateboarding tips and advice during the lessons. Our skateboard instructors have also participated in the Y skateboard lessons, programs and competitions, so they know what it's like to be starting out!
All instructors have Working With Children Checks and are first-aid certified.

Cancellation policy
Please note that Riverslide Skate Park is an outdoor venue and lessons are subject to cancellations due to weather.
In the interest of participant safety and in the event of extreme weather conditions, the YMCA reserves the right to cancel an event or program at short notice. An email will be sent if the class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, including weather, and a product return will be allocated to your account. Please contact the venue on 9663 0495 if you are unsure about weather conditions.Cancellations made no later than 60 minutes before your booking will result in a skate product return (valid for 90 days) being added to your online customer account. You can use this on your next equivalent booking. Bookings cannot be cancelled after your booking or less than 60 minutes prior and are not allocated a product return.
